Chicago Central Hockey Club

The Chicago Central Hockey Club provides high school aged student-athletes the opportunity to participate in hockey. The program is centrally located in Chicago, skating out of Johnny's Ice House East & West and the Chicago Blackhawks Community Training Facility. We believe in developing young men and women through the vehicle of athletics. Players are expected to excel in the classroom and in their community to become leaders on and off the ice.

As a combined high school hockey program, every player from our assigned schools that meets the USA hockey registration and full equipment requirements, completes tryouts, and registers for the season will be given a roster spot. As a combined program, we are a no-cut hockey program. All players will be assigned to either a Varsity or Junior Varsity team.

Eligibility

Current 9th – 12th grade students.

The list of high schools eligible to participate is determined by Amateur Hockey Association Illinois each year. Please see the season details in the right for current list of schools.

The Season

Pre-season clinics and tryouts for team placement start in mid August each year. The regular season runs from September through February yearly, and state playoffs generally occur at the end of February and early March.

Where

Home games and practices are at Johnny's Ice House East & West, and at the Blackhawks Community Ice Rink at Fifth Third Ice arena.

Away games are at various high school team ice rinks throughout the greater Chicago area. There is usually a tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan as well.

Practices

Team practices are at the home ice rinks, usually twice a week.

Games

Teams will play 15-25 games over the course of the season, usually scheduled over weekends. Though, some games are on weeknights as well.

Extra Costs

Besides registration fees, teams are expected to cover costs for apparel, and tournament travel.

Financial Assistance

Chicago Central is pleased to offer a Financial Assistance Program to players/families demonstrating financial hardship. Chicago Central strives to allocate approximately 10% of its annual registration/fundraising revenues to its Financial Assistance Program, and offers reduced registration fees to families who otherwise may not be able to participate in our hockey program due to financial hardship.
